Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

This is my second post of the day. For the Lawscaping Challenge February blog hop click here.

Hi crafty friends! Today I'm joining the Spring Coffee Lovers Bloghop hosted by the super talented and sweet Amy Tsuruta!  I am actually a huge coffee (and tea) lover and drink both almost everyday. I enjoy drinking tea in the mornings at work and having coffee in the evenings at home after work. I know it sounds a little backwards, but after a long day at work, coffee gives me that much needed "pick me up" to paper craft, train jiu jitsu and workout lol!

For today's card, I used the super cute "Love You A Latte" set by Lawn Fawn and the "Perk Up" set by My Favorite Things.

Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop by Handmade by Yuki | "Love You A Latte" by Lawn Fawn & "Perk Up" by My Favorite Things

I started by die cutting some Bazzill "Gold Coins" cardstock using the stitched journaling card die from Lawn Fawn. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the focal panel and used a stitched hill die to create a small hill for the stamped images. I used one of the stitched scalloped border dies from Lawn Fawn to create scalloped borders for either side of the focal panel. I then stamped and colored the images using Copic Markers and cut them out using the coordinating dies. I used a Copic multiliner pen to turn the bagel into a doughnut and added sprinkles with my white gel pen. I mounted my focal panel onto a piece of pattern paper from the Pink Paislee "Solstice" 6x6 paper pack. And to finish my card I added some white twine and clear Wink of Stella to the doughnut and heart.

Mug: R20, W0, W2, E44, E47
Donut: R81, R83, R85, E30, E31

This month's blog hop is all about using the colors reds! I was inspired by the adorable new set "Gleeful Gardens" by Lawn Fawn.

Lawnscaping February 2015 Blog Hop | "Sorry I'm Late" Card by Handmade by Yuki | "Gleeful Gardens" by Lawn Fawn

For today's card, I decided to deviate from my usual A2-sized card and made a longer card that measures 4" x 7." I started by stamping the sentiment off to the right on a piece of white cardstock. I extended the sentiment using the stitched hill stamp included in this set. I stamped the hill again on a separate piece of white cardstock and die cut it using one of the small stitched circle dies. I then colored the grass and sky with my Copic Markers. I also stamped the images and colored them with Copic Markers as well. I then cut them out using the coordinating dies.

Grass: YG95, YG97
Sky: BG10, BG11
Snail: E31, E34, W2, W4, W6, R20
Mushrooms: R25, R27, R46, E30, E31, E33

I then adhered my circle onto my main panel being sure to line of the stamped hill. I used one of the stitched scalloped border dies to die cut two strips of red cardstock for the top and bottom of my panel. For the background, I stamped the new "Gingham" background stamp using SSS "Lipstick Red" dye ink. I then mounted all of my layers onto a red cardbase.

I hope you enjoyed today's card and thanks again for stopping by! Remember to visit everyone else's blogs if you haven't already done so! Have a wonderful weekend! ♥

Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #18 - One-Layer Card

This is my second post of the day. For the Simon Says Stamp "Hop To It!" release post, click here.

Happy Friday! Today is the start of a new Inky Paws Challenge over on the Newton's Nook Designs Blog. This challenge is all about creating a one-layer project. Although I really do love using dimensions on my projects, one-layer projects can also be a lot of fun to create too and my favorite thing about them is they're postal-friendly (yay!).

Inky Paws Challenge 18 by Handmade by Yuki | "Newton's Day Dream" by Newton's Nook Designs

For today's card, I used the "Newton's Day Dream" stamp set to create a cute one-layer scene. I started by stamping my sentiment first to make sure it was straight and centered. I actually ended up having to make this card twice because after the first attempt, I stamped the sentiment completely crooked after I had already inked the background :(. So I made sure that didn't happen the second time around! I then masked off the area for my scene using painters tape. I stamped and masked Newton and the little butterfly. I used Simon Says Stamp "Sea Glass" dye ink for the sky and Simon Says Stamp "Fern" dye ink for the grass. I then colored the stamped images using Copic Markers.

Newton: Y21, Y23, Y35, R01, R02
Flowers: BV01, BV02, Y00
Butterfly: V12, V15

Aside from the little hiccup I had in the beginning, this card was pretty quick and easy to make. I hope today's card has inspired you and I can't wait to see what you create! Visit the Newton's Nook Designs Blog for more details and inspiration. You'll have two weeks to play along and the winner will win a $10 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs Online Shop! Simon Says Stamp "Hop To It" Release

Hi crafty friends! Today Simon Says Stamp is celebrating their new Spring release called "Hop To It!" My post today features the adorable new set "Abby's Spring Showers." I had so much fun playing with this set that I ended up making two cards!

 photo 1_121-1.jpg

For my first card, I used the adorable little bunny image holding the umbrella. I started off by die cutting my focal panel using the new "Stitched Due 3" tag die from Pretty Pink Posh. I distressed the edges using Simon Says Stamp "Sea Glass" ink and stamped the raindrops using the same ink to give a tone-on-tone look. I then colored in the grass using my YG13 and YG17 Copic Markers. I stamped and colored the bunny and umbrella using Copic Markers and then fussy cut them out leaving a white border.

Bunny: W0, W2, W4, R20
Umbrella: C2, C4, R81, R83, R85

For the background, I used the A2-sized large stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn to die cut a piece of Simon Says Stamp "Surf Blue" cardstock. I then used the My Favorite Things "Raindrops" stencil to apply raindrops using the same "Surf Blue" dye ink to the background panel. I die cut two stitched hills from Simon Says Stamp "Green Leaf" cardstock and then a layer of grass from Simon Says Stamp "Green Apple" cardstock. I layered the overlapping hills directly onto the background panel and then sandwiched the focal panel in between the background layer and the layer of grass. For the sentiment, I white embossed the "Happy Spring" sentiment directly onto the layer of grass. I finished the card by adding clear Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents to the umbrella.

For my second card, I used the super cute bear image. I colored him using Copic Markers and fussy cut him out leaving a white border. I also decided to paper piece his littler heart and to give him some little googly eyes, doesn't he look so cute? I die cut the focal panel using one of the Simon Says Stamp "Large Tags" die from pattern paper from the "Hello Sunshine" 6x6 paper pack from Lawn Fawn. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the tag and then added a bow I die cut using the "Dainty Bow" die from Mama Elephant. I die cut two background layers using stitched rectangle dies from the same pattern paper pack and then matted them onto a scalloped cardbase I die cut using the scalloped frame die from the "Femme Frames" set by Mama Elephant. To finish the card I added some Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

I had so much fun making both of these cards and I hope you enjoyed today's post. For much more inspiration, be sure to visit the Simon Says Stamp Blog! Thanks again for stopping by! ♥

Newton's Nook Designs DT Post: "Get Well Soon" Card

Hi crafty friends! Today I'm over on the Newton's Nook Design Blog sharing this super cute get well card. This flu season has been pretty rough and so many of my coworkers and friends have fallen ill. I thought the "Spring Showers" set would be perfect to make a cute get well card to brighten someone's day.

Get Well Soon by Handmade by Yuki | "Spring Showers" by Newton's Nook Designs

I started my card by die cutting a piece of pattern paper from the Pink Paislee "Hello Sunshine" 6x6 paper pack and a piece of vellum using a stitched rectangle die. I then white heat embossed the sentiment onto the vellum layer. For the clouds, I used a stitched cloud border die from Pretty Pink Posh. I colored the duck using Copic Markers and paper pieced the umbrella, boots and puddle. I fussy cut the entire image and adhered it directly onto the vellum layer. For a little pop of color, I die cut a small heart and colored it using my BG34 Copic Marker and adhered it next to the sentiment. I then matted the entire focal panel onto some coordinating grey pattern paper. I added some matching "Tickled with Teal" twine from Trendy Twine. I finished the front of the card by applying clear Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents to the heart and umbrella. For the inside of the card, I adhered two strips of the same raindrop pattern paper and stamped the duck image and the "get well soon" sentiment in Simon Says Stamp "Sea Glass" dye ink.

I love how cute and simple today's card turned out. I tried to keep the design and colors gender-neutral so I can give it to a male coworker who's been feeling under the weather. I hope you enjoyed today's card too and thanks again for stopping by! ♥

Newton's Nook Designs Surprise Birthday Hop

Good morning! Today is a very special day, it's Jennifer's birthday! And in honor of this special day - the Newton's Nook Design Team is throwing a surprise birthday blog hop in honor of our fearless leader (also known as the creater, owner, designer and heart of Newton's Nook Designs) Jennifer! Jennifer is one of the kindest, talented and most considerate person ever, and because of that (and a million other reasons!) we wanted to help make her day as special as she is!

For those of you who don't know, I started card making a little over a year ago. Newton's Nook Designs was one of the first companies I instantly fell in love with and being on the Design Team has been such an amazing and surreal experience! At the time I didn't have a blog yet and would post my early creations onto my Flickr page. Jennifer was always so sweet and supportive and was one of the first individuals to encourage me to start a new blog. So in honor of her birthday, I thought it would be fun to share with you guys some of my older birthday-themed cards I made using Newton's Nook Designs stamps.
