Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #42 - Sketch + Inspiration Photo

Taylored Expressions
Hi crafty friends! Can you believe today is the last day of June?! For my friends in the US, I hope you have some fun plans for the 4th of July weekend. We're making a quick trip down to Portland and then hope to catch some fireworks back in Seattle on the 4th.

We've been having some beautiful summer weather this past week here in Seattle. However, I know my friends in Southern California have been dealing with some pretty hot temperatures. In the spirit of the hot summer weather, I made a fun summer-themed card for the latest Share Joy Challenge using Summer Grumplings.

For this week's challenge, I followed the sketch pretty closely. I started off by cutting four small squares using a stitched square die. I inked the inside backgrounds of the squares with Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon and Wild Honey distress inks. I colored the images with Copic Markers and cut them out using coordinating dies. How cute are these images?! They seriously crack me up lol! I then white heat embossed the sentiment onto black card stock and cut it out using a banner die.

I just love how this card turned out and had so much fun playing with this set. I hope you were inspired and don't forget to swing by the Share Joy Challenge Blog to see more amazing inspiration! Thanks again for stopping by and have a wonderful day! ♥

Newton's Nook Designs - Shark Week

Hi crafty friends! All this week the Newton's Nook blog is celebrating Shark Week! This week we're showcasing the Shark Bites stamp set and the new Shark Bites Die Set.
For today's card, I started off by die cutting a white card panel using an A2-sized stitched rectangle die. I white heat embossed the the waves onto the background panel. I masked off the stitched edges to create a white border. I then inked the background with Faded Jeans, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean and Broken China distress inks. I then generously spritzed the background with water droplets. I watercolored the shark with ZIG Clean Color Real brush pens and then cut him out using the coordinating die. I then white heat embossed another wave onto vellum and cut that out with the coordinating die as well. To give the wave some cool dimension, I popped it up with clear foam tape. I stamped the sentiment onto a speech bubble and colored the inside of the speech bubble with a light blue Copic Marker. To finish the card, I added a few sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

I had so much fun making this card and love that the Shark Bites set now has a coordinating die set! What's even more exciting is that all this week, both sets will be on sale - how cool is that, right?! Don't forget to stop by the NND blog everyday this week for much more inspiration. Thanks again for stopping by and have a wonderful day! ♥

Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #33 - Ombre Challenge

Happy Friday! Today is the start of a new Inky Paws Challenge over on the Newton's Nook Designs blog. One of my favorite techniques to incorporate the ómbre look is ink blending. So I was super excited to this month's challenge and to whip out my distress inks! I used Beautiful Blossoms and Beautiful Wings to create this pretty friendship card.

I stamped the butterfly and flower onto white card stock and colored the images with Copic Markers. I then fussy-cut the flower and cut the butterfly using the coordinating die. Although I don't have them, there are coordinating dies for the flowers, too! I then created my background by ink blending Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, Peacock Feathers, Salt Ocean. I also spritzed a few droplets of water to the background to give it that fun distressed look. I stamped the leaves and stem directly onto a white card panel and then again onto a separate piece of card stock. I colored the leaves and fussy-cut those out and glued them directly onto the card panel. I white heat embossed the sentiment onto black card stock and popped that onto the card panel as well. I added few Clear Droplets from Pretty Pink Posh and Shimmer Pico Embellisher to the butterfly.

I love how pretty background turned out and had so much fun playing along with this month's challenge! I hope you were inspired by today's card and I cannot wait to see what you create! Don't forget to visit the Newton's Nook Designs blog for more inspiration! ♥
