Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #32 - Use an Arrow

Happy Friday! For those folk in the US, I hope you have fun plans for Memorial Day weekend. I am super excited to have today and Monday off from work (4-day weekend FTW!). Today is also the start of a new Inky Paws Challenge over on the Newton's Nook Designs blog. For this challenge, I thought the sets from the new release, Adventure Awaits and Points & Plums dies, would go perfectly!
Inky Paws Challenge #32 by Handmade by Yuki | Adventure Awaits and Points & Plums dies by Newton's Nook Designs
I started off by die cutting a piece of watercolor card stock using an A2-sized stitched rectangle. I created the watercolor background by adding Spun Sugar, Tumbled Glass and Shaded Lilac distress inks onto a piece of acetate then "smooshing" the acetate directly onto the panel. For some extra shimmer and blending, I spritzed the panel with a mixture of water and perfect pearls. Once the background was completed dry, I created my own stamped background by stamping the arrow pattern repeatedly with silver pigment ink. To keep with the arrow theme, I die cut the sides using a stitched border die. I cut a small scalloped oval die from white and purple card stock for the sentiment. I stamped the sentiment directly onto the white portion with the same silver ink. I the die cut the two feathers from silver metallic card stock and added some silver metallic twine across the top of the card. To secure down the feathers and bow, I used my tiny attacher and stapled them together. For the card base, I used the same purple card stock. And to finish the card, I added Wisteria Blossoms sequins mix and Silver Mini Star Confetti.

I just love how pretty this card turned out! It's hard to tell in the photo, but there's so much shimmer and shine from the perfect pearls and silver ink - I just love it! I hope you were inspired by today's card and I cannot wait to see what you create! Don't forget to visit the Newton's Nook Designs blog for more inspiration! ♥

Taylored Expressions Share Joy Challenge #37 - Sketch + Color Challenge

Hi again! This is my second post of the day. For my NND post, click here.

Taylored Expressions
Welcome back! Can you believe it's already the last Thursday of May?! I feel like this first half of the year just flew by! It's been a fun, but crazy busy first half of the year and I'm excited to see what's in store for the rest of the year. Today there's a new challenge over on the Share Joy Challenge blog. I went with color challenge and create a sweet "hello" card using the Pocketful of Sunshine
Share Joy Challenge #37 - Peeping out to say hello by HandmadebyYuki | Pocketful of Sunshine by Taylored Expressions
I started off by stamping the flowers directly onto a white card panel. I masked the flowers and then inked the background using a soft navy dye ink. I colored the flowers with Copic Markers and then stamped the sentiment directly onto the panel. I also colored the cute chick with Copic Markers and then fussy-cut it out, leaving a white border. Also inspired by the color challenge, I die cut a picket fence from Chocolate Truffle.  I used a stitched cloud die to add a layer of white clouds to the top of the panel. I die the grass using a grass border die and inked it up with a beanstalk green dye ink. For the card base, I used Toffee card stock. To finish the card, I added some natural twine and covered the flowers with Clear Wink of Stella glitter.

I had so much fun playing along with this week's color challenge. I hope you were inspired as well and be sure to swing by the Share Joy Challenge Blog to see more amazing inspiration! Thanks again for stopping by and have a wonderful day! ♥

Newton's Nook Designs - Do what you love

Hi crafty friends! Today I'm up on the Newton's Nook Designs blog sharing a friendship/encouragement card using two sets from the latest release - Splendid Stags and Happy Little Thoughts.
Do what you love - by Handmade by Yuki | Happy Little Thoughts & Splendid Stags by Newton's Nook Designs
I started off by die cutting a white panel using a wonky stitched rectangle die. I then stamped one of the wreaths using a dark Olive ink. Although it's hard to see in the photo, I also stamped a few of the small berries in a light yellow ink around the wreath. I heat embossed the sentiment with metallic gold embossing powder. I die cut the stag from gold sparkle card stock. I matted the focal panel onto a piece of the same gold card stock. For the background, I die cut a piece of floral pattern paper using an A2-sized stitched rectangle die. To finish the card, I add a few 4mm metallic gold sequins to wreath and few extra gold sequins scattered across the card.

I just love how pretty this card turned out! Although this more of a friendship/encouragement card, I could totally see myself using the wreaths and stag dies to make holiday cards as well! I hope you were inspired and be sure to swing by the NND blog for more inspiration. Thanks again for stopping by and have a wonderful day! ♥
